Downtown Dubai Area

A HUGE RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT WITH DISTRICT COOLING

Downtown Dubai is a huge residential and commercial development in the north of the Emirate of Dubai covering an area of two square kilometers, part of which is still in construction. 

The master developer of the area, Emaar, needed a company with deep knowledge and ample experience in the Cooling sector for providing a state-of-the-art plant including a thermal energy storage.

The plant designed and built by ARANER is the fourth plant connected to the existing network and it would cover the extra capacity required.

The most important achievement of this project:

  • Increase of the maximum cooling capacity by a 40% with a lower CAPEX.
  • Improvement of the system efficiency reducing the operating cost.
  • TES Tank can be charged independently from any of the DCPs in the Network.
  • Allows the chiller operation at reduced CW temperature improving the average efficiency.
  • Dual mode chillers that will work at 4.4 oC during normal operation but are able also to produce water at 2.2oC to supply the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa area.
  • Larger cooling water make up tanks which provides additional storage to minimize the use of DEWA Water in case of TSE Shortage.
