The weather conditions in the area are quite extreme. The temperature during summer rises over 45 ºC. Red Sea Global needed to provide cooling energy to all the hotels and resorts for HVAC Purposes.

District Cooling was the selected technology due to the sustainability, efficiency and reliability of DCs systems.
Two different district cooling plants are needed, one for the workers’ village area and one for the main island with hotels and resorts.

The most important achievement of this project:

All the electricity is coming from renewable sources, mainly solar but also wind and others
Water usage shall be minimized and contaminated water shall not be discharged to the sea
District Cooling will be considered because is the most sustainable technology for cooling energy production

MAGNETIC BEARINGS: PRESENT AND FUTURE

Most of the chillers manufacturers have already developed different models and sizes using magnetic bearings. The direct benefit of magnetic bearings is that they reduce the energy consumption of the compressor. However, there is another value which is also very critical: magnetic bearings eliminate the use of oil, solving one of the major problems of a refrigeration system which is the mix between the oil and the refrigeration.
